Ascendix — EU Taxi Apps

A single engagement covering five production mobile applications operating taxi services across the EU. The suite was blocked from shipping — the app stores would no longer accept releases on the outdated React Native versions in use — and I came in as the second mobile engineer to own the upgrade that restored their ability to release.

Responsibilities

• Owned the React Native upgrade across all five applications end to end — the deadline-critical work standing between the team and any further release.
• Brought each app up to React Native 0.80.2 (the oldest starting at 0.66.x), researching and upgrading or replacing libraries app by app to clear the breaking changes across a large version jump.
• Produced the new builds and managed release for the whole suite across the App Store and Google Play, restoring the team's ability to ship.
